Brook grew up in a small, loving family in San Antonio and Austin where she developed a love for people, animals, food, and culture. In 1994, she graduated phi beta kappa with high honors in English Literature from her grandfather’s alma mater, Colgate University, in Hamilton, New York. From Colgate, she went to Indiana University in Bloomington where, in 1997, she received her Masters in English Literature and began teaching group fitness classes. During the next couple of years, she cultivated her love of wine and wellness, working for a small wine shop and two distributors, and also teaching movement classes in San Antonio and Austin. Brook then attended the University of Texas School of Law, graduating in 2001. For the next 10 years, Brook worked as a Federal attorney for a government agency where she litigated numerous cases, all the while teaching movement and yoga classes. In 2009, through work with a spiritual mentor and countless hours in meditation, she realized her heart was calling her to a different path. So in the summer of 2010, Brook opened Urban Yoga. Urban Yoga is a wholistic wellness studio located in Fort Worth’s Historic South Side dedicated to helping members of the Fort Worth community feel healthy, whole, and connected. The welcoming studio offers yoga, ballet barre, and nia classes, along with healing arts, spiritual retreats, and an ecofriendly boutique. Brook’s yoga classes incorporate the deep healing practices of hatha yoga, pranayama (breathwork), meditation, yoga therapy, and more. In addition to teaching and directing the studio, Brook is a proud mother of two beautiful boys — Jack (7) and Charlie (4). Brook lives in Mistletoe Heights with the love of her life, Wade Barrow, their boys, and their many animals.
