Beginner Nia with Lydia Hudson – 5 week series
Wednesday Evenings – July 13 – August 10 | 6:30-7:30

Nia is a dance class for everyone, regardless of age, body type, or dance experience. It’s a combination of martial arts, healing arts, and dance arts. In Nia, we focus on moving the body to heal and feel joy. There are 52 moves that comprise all the movements and serve as a foundation of the choreography. In a classic Nia class, we learn the moves as we dance to the routines, always moving in ways that feel good for the body.

In this beginner series, we will enjoy the same music as in a classic Nia class, but we will concentrate on only a few moves for each song, focusing on connecting with our bodies and building confidence in our physicality. This series will incorporate balance work, learning the 52 moves, and slowing down to allow for space to grow as movers and dancers. We will spend time learning moves like the cha cha cha, slow clock, blocks and punches to improve coordination, athleticism, and self confidence on the dance floor. Everyone is welcome, we hope to see you there!
