Yoga

 

 At Urban, we fully embrace the diversity of the yoga practice. We offer many styles of yoga from dynamic, energetic vinyasa practices to calming, meditative yin practices. All of our classes are suitable for beginners and long-time practitioners alike. In celebrating and offering a full spectrum of yoga classes, we aspire to create rich, fulfilling, well-rounded, healing practices for body, mind, and spirit.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga enables deep relaxation as you holding poses for longer periods of time with the help of props to completely support you. The main focus of Restorative Yoga is that by relaxing in poses, with the aid of props, without strain or pain, we can achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation.  60 minute all levels class.

Energizing Flow

This refreshing yoga practice is your formula for a weekday pick me up! In this 60 minute energizing flow class you’ll experience an equal balance of breath work, stretching, and strength building with a peaceful savasana to quiet your mind so you walk away with that yoga glow.  60 minutes, all levels welcome.

Gentle Yoga 

Explore creative sequencing and find your connection to the flow of energy in movement and in stillness.  Discover your ability to strengthen and self-heal through intuitive offerings of meditation, asana, and myofascial release.  This practice is rooted in the principle that each practitioner may bring their own dynamic by listening and responding to the unique and ever evolving  needs of their body mind spirit.  75 minutes, all levels welcome and wonderful for beginners.

Grounding Flow

This grounding slow flow, for all levels attunes us to our natural rhythms through integration of breath with movement. Noticing our connection with the Earth as we move through the poses grounds and calms the body-mind, provides a deeper sense of interconnection, and prepares us to face the week with courage, an open heart, and a warm smile.  60 minutes, all levels welcome and wonderful for beginners.  

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is a well-rounded classical yoga practice that focuses on alignment and finding the balance between strength and freedom.  This 60 minute deliberate practice, supported by the breath, leads to good health, a clear mind, and a kind heart.  60 minutes, all levels welcome and wonderful for beginners who want a deep dive into correct posture and form.

Mindful Flow 

Mindful Flow focuses on mindful integration through core stabilization, longer holds to create presence and heat and plenty of time at the end for release and rest.  60 minutes, all levels welcome and wonderful for beginners.  

Release & Flow

Connective tissue plays a crucial role in how our bodies function and is vital for flexibility and range of motion.  This 60 minute class will focus on the release of the connective tissue (fascia) through gentle stretching, yoga therapy balls, slow asana, core activation and breath alignment.  You’ll leave feeling strong, open and at ease.  All levels welcome. 

Therapeutic Vinyasa

Therapeutic Vinyasa incorporates yoga therapy balls combined with a more traditional style vinyasa class.  Students will focus on certain areas of the body and how these areas relate to their lives. Therapy balls release places of tension or pain, and the vinyasa practice postures continue to open and strengthen those area of the body. This class offers deep release in the beginning, moving old energy out of the body then, more strengthening work, moving energy into the body, during the vinyasa practice.  60 minutes, all levels welcome and wonderful for beginners.

Vinyasa Yoga

This all level – non heated 60 minute offering allows students to flow through a more conscious and creatively designed sequence to explore a deeper asana (posture) with a focus on the breathwork and prana (life force). In this class we move slower and hold each pose longer to allow students of all levels to fully explore their spiritual, emotional and mental energies.  

Prenatal Yoga

Our studio and class offerings are especially well-suited to women in all stages of pregnancy. Our instructors are experienced in working with pregnant women and our classes are non-heated. In all of our classes we move at an intentional pace making sure that the body feels internally supported.

Classes we especially recommend (When you arrive,  please let your instructor know you are expecting so they can guide you into modifications when necessary) :

  • Therapeutic Vinyasa – Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9:45am 
  • Grounding Flow – Monday 6:15pm 
  • Vinyasa Yoga – Tuesday & Thursday 8:30am and 5:30pm*
  • Restorative Yoga – Wednesday 5pm
  • Mindful Flow – Monday & Wednesday 12:30pm & Saturday Noon*
  • Gentle Flow – Sunday 4:30pm*
  • All Nia classes – Wed. & Fri. 11am, Sat. & Sun. 10:30am & Mon. 5pm

*75 minute classes

Private and semi-private (up to 4 students) sessions are also available for any type of yoga.   Privates can also be tailored to any special needs in your pregnant body, and/or to design a home prenatal practice.  Private sessions can be personalized to the individual needs a little more uniquely than a group class can offer.  Visit our Holistic Wellness page to learn more about our private offerings and instructors.
