Amy has been part of the Urban family since its start in 2010 and on August 1, 2019 stepped into the role of owner / director. Amy teaches the morning Barre classes Monday, Wednesday & Friday 8:30-9:30 am. She is a dynamic and joyful teacher with accreditation both in barre and in yoga teaching. She combines both passions in her welcoming and fun classes.
Amy’s teaching style is purposeful, energetic and fun. I love Barre but mostly, I love Urban Yoga! I draw inspiration for my classes from music, art and my love of dance and from the support of my husband & daughter.
Surya Barrow, MA, JD, E-RYT
Surya has been a devoted dance, movement and yoga instructor since 1995. In 2010, she opened Urban Yoga to create a warm, welcoming and inclusive movement and yoga studio in Fort Worth’s Near Southside. Surya is a loving, passionate yoga teacher who brings chanting, spirituality, self-love and inspiration to each of her classes. You’ll sing, chant, flow, meditate, laugh, and experience your true essence in each of Surya’s classes.

Kathryn Boulet, Yoga Instructor
Kathryn Boulet, Urban Yoga 200 hour Deep Study and Teacher Apprenticeship. Licensed Massage Therapist since 1991, Reiki Practitioner, Levels 1 & 2.
Kathryn leads the Monday evening Meditative Vinyasa at 4:30. In Kathryn’s classes expect to slow down with a focus on the breath, gentle stretching, and opening to stillness, a guided meditation done in Savasana that allows safe access to the deep subconscious with the opportunity to plant a positive intention.
I practice to come home to my essential nature that is a wellspring of energy, inspiration, and deep calm. I teach to share with others the gift of yoga – the experience of being fully whole in the present moment. I draw inspiration from dance and the joy of movement, Nia, teaching yoga, the capacity of the mind and body for renewal, and bringing peace to others through bodywork.

Jeff Coffey is our early bird, he leads Vinyasa Yoga classes Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays 7-8am. Jeff is a life junkie, an adventurous nomad that feels at home everywhere he goes, Jeff discovered the yogic path in 2001. After exposure to many great and inspiring instructors over the years, Jeff began his own yoga teaching adventure in 2018. As a co-creator of authentic experiences, Jeff works with his students to help them identify their boundaries, and enable them to push beyond.
Jeff’s classes are a combination of Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha Yoga, YogAbound!, and Kundalini. His focus is on Health and Wellness Coaching, Life Coaching, Reikki Body Sessions.

Emily offers an intuitive yoga class twice a week, Thursdays at 5:30 and Sundays at 4:30. Emily’s classes are filled with loving grace mixed with high energy and lots of passion. Here hands-on yoga classes are mixed with lively essential oils and provide a fulfilling workout for both mind and body.

Wesley leads Meditative Vinyasa every Sunday morning at 9:00 am. In this class you will experience a slower vinyasa, our meditative offering allows students to flow through a more conscious and creatively designed sequence to explore a deeper asana (posture) with a focus on the breathwork and prana (life force).
I practice and teach to flourish and nurture well-being in myself and others.

Why I Practice: Barre helped me discover my best self. After 3 children and a lost lifetime as a competitive athlete, barre brought me back to my athletic, dynamic center with the new addition of flexibility, graceful lines, and fun music in a supportive group setting.
Why I Teach: Because barre is the perfect creative outlet to my analytical day job as a securities lawyer and I love sharing the joy I have found at the barre with others.
Inspirations: My fellow teachers, my husband who has always found time to stay fit, my three beautiful children who keep me laughing and moving, and my rescue bulldog who reminds me that love is unconditional and there is always time to rest.
Blake Hestir, Yoga Instructor
Blake Hestir, Urban Yoga 200 hour Deep Study and Teacher Apprenticeship (2019). Blake is a RYT-200 hour certified yoga instructor. He has travelled extensively to far flung places such as Costa Rica, Japan, South Korea, and India, as well as throughout Europe, and considers himself a citizen of the world. He serves as Professor of Philosophy at TCU with interests in ancient Greek philosophy as well as philosophy of mind, consciousness, and ecological interconnectivity.
Blake has been practicing Hatha yoga for five years and enjoys contemplative dance practices such as Ecstatic Dance, 5Rhythms, and contact improvisation. His classes are an exploration of embodiment through careful attention to the interrelation between breath, movement, and stillness. He focuses on intention setting, visualization, and alignment to help students deepen trust in themselves and contribute to flourishing.
Blake leads the one hour Yoga Foundations class every Sunday at noon. This class is for all levels whether you are new to yoga or are cultivating a beginner’s mind. Enjoy a slow and balanced, grounding and thoughtful exploration of the key foundational postures, breath practices, meditation techniques, and more in an approachable, healing and inspiring practice.
Staci Hill, Yoga & Sound Meditation Instructor
Staci Hill, 200hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) thru Urban Yoga, Reiki Master, Thai Bodywork, Emotional release with essential oils, Raindrop technique certified.
Staci leads our 9:30 am Thursday morning Breath & Gong offering where you will lay comfortably supported on the floor, relaxing and enjoying the sounds of the gong, singing bowls, drums, and other instruments. This class allows for healing vibrations of the gong to wash over you and enter thru your chakras. This class helps with stress reduction, release of emotional blockage, and life changing moments thru healing and transformation.
I practice because I am a people person, connecting with others is such a true blessing, the feeling of the energy space from everyone attending is a powerful thing. I teach to allow myself a moment of pause, my body craves it! I need this moment of pause to allow my teaching to shine.
Moments with family are my favorite time. I also love to go antique treasure hunting, its kinda my thing.

Her outgoing and fun-loving personality shine in all of her offerings. An advanced and all-encompassing teacher, Megan’s classes will leave you feeling energized and empowered.

My personal practice is to re-connect, over and over and over again, to God inside of me. When teaching I share yoga and Nia because it is what I love. I teach yoga and Nia to hopefully share some of the gifts that have come through my teachers, and healed me like no other.

I fell in love with yoga in 1999, and have been lucky to study under amazing teachers in the art of creative yoga flow and yoga therapy. Since I first began teaching yoga, 20 years ago, I’ve led students aged 12 weeks to over 90 – yes, everyone can do yoga!
I believe that a yoga practice is really about working with our habits, patterns and beliefs – moving more energy to experiences that provide joy and learning to see and shift out of the things that bring pain.
I strive to provide each student with new insights into their body-mind-spirit, while nurturing acceptance, gratitude and playfulness.

Briana Wucinski, Ecstatic Dance DJ & Facilitator. You can find Briana on the dance floor at Urban every Monday at 5:30pm for Intro to Ecstatic Dance as well as monthly on the 1st Friday & 3rd Thursday for Ecstatic Dance Fort Worth starting at 7:30pm.
Briana has been dancing since she could shimmy and shake, but after being diagnosed with late onset Type 1 Diabetes in 2016, she discovered Ecstatic Dance. Using the practice of come-as-you-are, free-form dance as a way of communicating with and through her body, she has grown to love dance and is committed to spreading the joy of moving and grooving.
I practice as a form of self-expression as a way of exploring my own health and body through movement. I teach too allow students to authentically dance their hearts out in order to move through their lives with more compassion for themselves and others.
